Vermont was lovely. Our major stopping point was The Farmer's Diner, a greasy spoon that sources from local farmers. I had made note of it when our book club read Barbara Kingsolver's Animal Vegetable Miracle. The actual choices on the menu were underwhelming, but we loved the loaded french fries (with local Cabot cheese, farm-raised VT bacon, and organic green onions.) And we all split one of the best milkshakes I've ever had from their homemade, hand-dipped ice cream. We've never eaten this much ice cream in our lives - it's ubiquitous in the Northeast.
We just drove through Vermont and stayed the night in Albany, NY. But we chose the road less travelled, and that made all the difference...
Thank you, Vermont. We wish we had more time with you...
Next up: a farm stay in Pennsylvania.
