What I will miss...

The last eight years in DC have been wonderful. We have fallen in love with this city and will miss many things about it when we head back to So Cal. A few of my favorite things include the spring flowers and beautiful architecture.

I am posting these pictures, so that when I forget what the seasons are like (because I am being tortured by continual 70 degree days), I will remember the bright green awakening that is happening on the other side of the country. And when I get tired of stucco and concrete, I can sigh in wonder at the tall, brick abodes with decades of character.

All these pictures were taken on a walk around the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Beautiful.

Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day this year.

I found a skirt for Noelle at a consignment store that matched one of Leah's favorites (from Grandy, of course) and asked them to wear their outfits to church. Leah had planned something else to wear and promptly threw a fit which ended with the outcry of children everywhere, "Why is there a father's day and mother's day, but no kids day?!" My response? "EVERYday is kids day for you!"

And she baked me this dessert pizza cookie with our fellow gluten-free friend, Joanna.

We ended the night with my choice of restaurant - Ethiopic. Ethiopian food on H Street. SO good. And so proud of my kids for eating unique, cultural fare.

Noelle's Turns Two!

On April 27th we had a little party with our neighbor friends to celebrate Noelle's 2nd birthday. There was gluten-free pizza, watermelon and gf chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese honey frosting and sugary, artificially-colored sprinkles ('cause I like to splurge sometimes.)

(We got a video of the Happy Birthday song, candle blowing, and birthday plate, but failed to get an actual picture. Maybe when I get my act together we can put some actual video on the blog.)

So this is what I discovered the other day...

I guess when you're the 3rd born (and the 1st and 2nd born leave the door to the bathroom open), you just gotta make things happen yourself.
