On a whim, I decided to take the kids strawberry picking last week and though it was a little bit rainy, we ended up with 6.5 pounds of these guys. (If you didn't know better, wouldn't you say that this blogger must be one of those artsy-fartsy photography-types, 'cause that's a mighty perty picture of strawberries!)

John did lots of running up and down the rows talking excitedly about picking strawberries and then stopping every once in a while to do so. Then he'd show me each one he got, dump them in his bucket, go running again, kick over the bucket, start picking from my designated row and then do it all over again. The kid's a riot.

Noelle got straight down to business and picked and ate as much as she could get her hands on.

Some were a little bit sour.
What we didn't eat in handfuls the next day, I decided to freeze. I'm trying to do a little more urban foraging and food preservation this year, so hopefully you'll hear a little more about that in the weeks to come...

We had a berry fun time!
(Sorry, had to say it.)
