We went to Summers Farm in Frederick, Maryland with Grandy today and had a great time. This was one overachieving pumpkin patch! There were giant slides, a huge professionally-created corn maze (who knew?), an apple cannon, a huge bounce pillow, pony rides, go-carts, miniature goats, apple cider and pumpkin donuts, a corn pit, and pig races. Fortunately for the child that lives inside of Luke, there were no height restrictions on any of the activities.
The kids fell asleep in the car on the way home and then threw on some last minute dress up clothes to go to two neighborhood Halloween parties. (The cute curly blonde is Jack Stofer from downstairs.) By the end of the last shindig, there was a chorus of toddlers ratcheting up their sleep-deprived, sugar-induced whining to epic levels.
When comparing notes with one of our neighbors about how these kid-centered, treat-filled days turn our children into more-wanting little monsters instead of the humbly grateful angels we would hope, he responded to his pre-meltdown daughter saying, "Listen, kid, your whole life is a treat."
Ahhh, I love Halloween.
